Absence

I’m baaaaaack! Well, not fully. See, I took an intentional 10-day absence in an effort to amplify black voices (yes, this is still happening and will continue to happen over on my IG). I had about a 3-day notice after that period that I would be getting surgery on my dominant hand. This surgery has, of course, affected my ability to write, type, do yoga, dress myself, do all the things. I suppose I’m breaking the rules typing this one out? But, I’m trying to just use my left hand.

Anyway, I’ve hated being away so long, especially during a period of time that vaguely resembles bed rest in terms of even more dependence and even less activity. Having writing back thanks to speech therapy has meant, well, an insurance policy on my sanity. It’s a taste of independence. I need that. So here I am! And on National PTSD Awareness Day no less! Speaking of, I’d like to share more about my journey with PTSD. I intend to take my time writing that with both hands though. In the meantime, I’ve been working on some other exciting projects that I’ll probably be able to explain, with one hand, coming up shortly. I’m looking forward to sharing with y’all again.

Thanks for letting me drop by to say “Hi, I’m back,” and I hope you’re as ready as I am to get back to my regular weekly postings here on Getting Good!

Extra Love: If you’re looking to support black-owned businesses in the Boston area, take a ride to the Lower Mills and grab a smoothie from Bred Gourmet. A large wavy baby with an almond butter boost ought to make you feel a little better about avoiding the crowds on every trail and beach during a pandemic. Fair warning, I’ve had one most open weeks of 2020, and I still want more.
